Ms. White (played by Christina July Kim) is the CEO of a recent entertainment start-up. This company was supposedly created with the intention of provided gainful employment for aspiring performers. CC has arranged an interview under the assumed identity Peter Young. This guy has been developing interactive websites for different gaming and production companies (eg video contest, casinos, and board-game app development). …After doing research they discovered Universal Dreams was a recent startup out of N. On December 21, 2011, Magistrate Judge William E. Cassady conditionally certified under the Fair Labor Standards Act a case filed by Nichols Kaster that involves call center employees seeking overtime pay from Ryla Teleservices, Inc. This means that all persons who are or have been employed by Ryla Teleservices, Inc. as customer service representatives in Saraland, Alabama, at any time from March 15, 2008 to the present will be provided notice and an opportunity to opt in to the case. This Order follows a December 12, 2011 Order conditionally certifying a very similar case against Ryla in Indiana.

The case is entitled, Robinson, et al. v. Ryla Teleservices, Inc., Civ. No. 1:11-cv-00131 (S.D. AL). In the action, call center employees claim that Ryla Teleservices, Inc. required them to perform uncompensated work before and after their scheduled shifts. That work included booting-up computers, initializing software programs, setting up call backs, and reviewing work related emails and instant messages. The employees also claim that they were frequently paid late, rather than on their regularly scheduled paydays.

Plaintiffs are represented by James Kaster and David Schlesinger from Nichols Kaster, PLLP, which has offices in Minneapolis and San Francisco. Nichols Kaster, PLLP has also filed lawsuits on behalf of Ryla Teleservices, Inc.s call center employees in Georgia (Slaughter-Cabbell, et al. v. Ryla Teleservices, Inc., Civ. No. 1:11-CV-00202 (N.D. GA)), Indiana (Swarthout et al. v. Ryla Teleservices, Inc., Civ. No. 4:11-CV-0021 (N.D. Ind.)), California (Shea et al. v. Ryla Teleservices, Inc., Civ. No. 1:11-CV-00626 (E.D. Cal.)), Virginia (Hargrove, et al. v. Ryla Teleservices, Inc., Civ. No. 2:11-CV-00344 (E.D. VA)) and Colorado (Dickenson et al. v. Ryla Teleservices, Inc., Civ. No. 11-CV-1208 (D. Co.)). These cases involve the similar issues as the Alabama case.

Steve Ipsen, founder and eight term past president of the nations largest prosecutors union and candidate for Los Angeles District Attorney in 2012, has secured the endorsements of prominent victims rights leaders from the largest victims organizations in Southern California. A 25 year veteran prosecutor in the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, Steve has served for nearly a decade as an advisory board member to victims rights groups across the State. He was a ballot signator for Jessica’s Law passed in 2006 and co-author of Marsy’s law passed in 2008 by the voters in California.

Marcella Leach co-founded Justice for Homicide Victims after her daughter Marsalee Marsy Nicholas was murdered in 1983. “I am forever grateful that my son Nick and Steve partnered to write Marsys Law, the most comprehensive Victims Bill of Rights in the United States. I whole heartedly endorse Steve Ipsen for Los Angeles District Attorney, she said.

Saul Zavala, whose daughter Jessica Zavala and niece Olivia Munguia were murdered in Lynwood on their way to school in1999, is the Spanish chapter leader of Justice for Murdered Children. Patricia Wenskunas is the CEO and founder of Crime Survivors and Crime Stoppers of Orange County. Shari Martin, whose son Marshall was murdered in Lancaster in 2002, is the Antelope Valley chapter leader for Parents of Murdered Children. Steve is the only candidate that addresses the dangerous early release policies of our massively over-crowded jails and prisons, says Martin. She supports Ipsens Reform First approach to criminal justice that employs risk assessment criteria to prioritize jail space for dangerous criminals, and diverts non-violent offenders into rigorous work, community service, job training or drug rehabilitation programs in order to stop recidivism and escalation to violent crime. Ipsen states, We have known about the prison overcrowding crisis for some time and the AB 109 realignment is only a partial solution. Reform First addresses overcrowding issues and prioritizes violent crime to prevent early release of dangers criminals.

Also endorsing Steve are Janette Chavez, a victims rights advocate whose 16 year old daughter Samantha Salas was murdered in 2008 in Monrovia, California; and Lawanda Hawkins, founder and president of Justice for Murdered Children, whose only son Reggie was murdered in the South Bay in 1996.

This event is being held at De Anza Cove at Mission Bay this weekend, and participants can choose to walk the 5-kilometer course, run the course or both. Those participants will raise money for the distance that they travel on foot, and those donations will be used to serve the needs of Habitat for Humanity, a charitable organization that helps to provide shelter for those who are without homes.

The event is being organized by the ManKind Project, a charitable organization that promotes service to the community by helping those who are less fortunate. The organization does so by providing weekend events for members that train participants in how to live as better citizens and they help to organize events such as the one being held this weekend.
